My Story

Hello! Welcome to Tutor to Empower.
Let me tell you a little story...
I recently learned that extreme human exploitation is a modern-day form of slavery, and shockingly, it occurs in our very own backyard here in Nashville, TN. After noticing this problem and researching solutions, I found that education and financial independence create pathways to freedom for survivors.
Wanting to volunteer my time and efforts to combat this issue, I sought out local nonprofit organizations that restored dignity for survivors of human exploitation.
I was introduced to EveryOneHuman - a Nashville TN based nonprofit organization that partners with local advocates to fight systemic causes of hunger, homelessness, and extreme human exploitation. Deeply inspired by their mission, I reached out to their CEO and founder, and expressed my interest in volunteering. Soon after, I interviewed with their leadership team, and was offered an internship as the Digital Content and Media Specialist. This has given me the opportunity to expand the EOH outreach by collaborating with a diverse community to support the Education and Rehabilitation of Survivors of Extreme Human Exploitation.
Tutor to Empower, my community service initiative, helps sponsor the educational and vocational scholarships that empower survivors of extreme human exploitation.
In addition to Tutor to Empower, I also support EOH through developing quarterly newsletters, fliers, and interacting with future EOH members.
About Us
The Mission:
Tutor to Empower's services for students supports a community service project with EveryOneHuman, a nonprofit organization in Nashville with a mission to fight against extreme human exploitation. By requesting a small donation per hour of tutoring, I contribute to education and financial independence.
I provide tutoring via Zoom for $30/hour.
100% of the earnings from Tutor to Empower will be donated to EveryOneHuman, providing educational and vocational scholarships for survivors of extreme human exploitation in the U.S.
Meet the Founder
My name is Shiv Mehta, and
I am a Junior at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, TN.
I am also an advocate of EveryOneHuman.
I am a hardworking student and have maintained a 4.9 GPA and also scored a 36 composite on the ACT. I am also very passionate about music and have been playing the piano for 8 years.
I hope to share my knowledge and skills with students searching for help in any of these subjects, while giving back to the community through this initiative.
